- Coordinates and directs all aspects of the Inpatient operations effectively and efficiently.
- Oversees the charge nurse and day to-day opera! tions, which includes problem solving issues and ensuring effective processing to meet Federal, State regulations for Inpatient/Skilled/IC patients in Critical Access Hospitals.
- Monitor changes in patient conditions and nursing needs. Oversee nursing plan of care and review dates. Supervises other members of the healthcare team, as needed, to accomplish the plan of care. Provide ongoing nursing education as needed.
- Functions as the patient's advocate by protecting patient rights.
- Involves the patient and family in planning for goals, patient care and discharge needs; providing patient and family education with appropriate documentation.
- Maintains leadership rounding on all patients, overseeing their stay to improve patient satisfaction and patient safety.
- Oversees the nursing schedule by ensuring adequate daily staffing for nursing floor.
- Assists the nursing department in times of high census and/or low staffing levels.
- Serves as back up for Social Services, Charge Nurse a! nd Ed Coordinator.
- Initiates the development and implementation of policies, procedures and processes that govern Nursing Services in collaboration with appropriate services.
- Performs and completes Critical Access Hospital documents for Skilled Nursing Facilities and Intermediate care patients as required by State and Federal guidelines.
- Implements/oversees patient plan of care based on assessments and goals established by the interdisciplinary care team.
- Monitors nursing processes for improvements. Reviews Lippincott procedures and skills for updates and provides education to staff on changes or new processes.
- Consults other departments, as appropriate, to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient's needs.
- Participates in and promotes Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI).
- Assists in developing a qualified and productive workforce.
- Performs employee relation functions effectively to promo! te a positive work environment, influence retention, and enhance communication.
- Follows all scope and standards of professional nursing practice guidelines.
- Collaborates with Medical Staff management and other health care providers to coordinate medical and nursing management of patient care.
- Directs departmental financial operations, effectively.
- Position requires current RN licensure, in addition to 3-5 years of acute experience.
- Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) preferred
- Prior management/charge nurse experience preferred
- Hours would be Monday-Friday 8:00-5:00, and after hours as needed.
