This position serves as a representative for PEERS, the Program for Excellence in Education and Research in the Sciences. PEERS is a program for ~450 freshman and sophomore life and physical sciences majors who have come to UCLA with more life challenges than other students. PEERS is a support structure that offers specialized classes, individualized counseling and exposure to undergraduate research. The PEERS SSA2 reports to the PEERS Academic Director and Assistant Director, and provides support for: PEERS admission and orientation; student enrollment and tracking; and student communication. The SSA2 helps manage course scheduling as well as coordinating logistics for events, workshops and courses. The SSA2 maintains an extensive database and website and performs some accounting functions as needed. The SSA2 is part of a supportive team that ensures students in PEERS achieve academic success.

Demonstrated skill and ability in coordinating programs, projects and activities as demonstrated by creating ideas, determining procedures or courses of action, selecting methods and implementation and prioritizing program objectives and tasks.

Working knowledge of OASIS (On-line Access to the Student Information System) and UCLA Counselor Desktop.
Can be trained
Working knowledge and experience in creating, maintaining and formatting spreadsheets, databases, and producing correspondence, documents and reports utilizing word processing, spreadsheet, database and file applications, email and the Internet. Preferred experience using Microsoft Office-Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint; FileMaker, Outlook and Internet Explorer.

Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Publisher and Filemaker Pro.
