JOB SUMMARY
In coordination with the Nurse Manager, Nurse Coordinator and/or Clinic Manager and in collaboration with the physician/provider, the Registered Nurse II ut! ilizes the nursing process and critical thinking skills to plan, organize and coordinate daily clinic or care center operations. Services are delivered in a compassionate, safe manner while maintaining patient policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Applies skilled nursing judgment to perform RN nursing duties and care related prioritization, assessment, education, documentation and promotion of patientsâ health and wellness. Plans, organizes and manages nursing functions while providing leadership by complying with regulations/requirements and clinic policies/procedures. May facilitate development and implementation of department policies and procedures. Additional RN duties may include using assessment and patient education skills to perform in the triage role under the direction of the physician, performing screening processes according to criteria and interviewing patients. Communicates findings verbally to the physician/clinic provider and documents all! pertinent and required information in the patientâs written! or electronic medical record. Assists the provider with in-office procedures, administers medications or vaccines and performs dressing changes and patient education as instructed. Laboratory procedures are collected and processed according to CLIA regulations as ordered by the provider. Prepares rooms, supplies, instruments and equipment for needed patient care. Demonstrates leadership and acts calmly and competently in emergency situations. Monitors, orders and processes supplies, medications, samples, etc. to assure accurate and adequate inventory, documentation and record keeping. Communicates accurate and timely information to other staff regarding needed supplies or ordering. Evaluates and completes Insurance Pre-Authorization for specific tests and procedures and works closely with case managers and third party payers to assure provider orders for patient care are completed in a timely manner. Evaluates need for patient medication assistance and assists with applica! tion as appropriate. May supervise support staff and assists with non-clinical functions as needed, such as scheduling appointments, completion of charges/charge tickets and other office duties as appropriate. Contributes to quality of patient care by following standards, policies, QI protocols and participation in quality audits. Maintains competency in skills and procedures as well as assists with the orientation and education of new staff to assure their competency levels.
- Insertion and maintenance of peripheral IV sites for intermittent or continuous infusion as ordered by the provider.
- Initiation and administration of IV medications as ordered by the provider.
- Access central venous lines for labs, medications, etc.
- One year experience IV infusion required.
- Oversight and assessment of LPN-C IV functions. Other duties as assigned.
