Successful candidate will work on a wide variety of building types located throughout the United States and will take an active role in coordinating with local sta! ff of electrical, mechanical, structural, civil engineers, EITâs, and technicians in an interdisciplinary Team setting with architects, interior designers and planners. Performs on-site technical and feasibility assessments and prepares technical reports. Performs building electrical engineering design efforts including design calculations and analysis. Selects equipment, electrical building power and communications systems and devices through the schematic, design development and contract document phases to complete documents on schedule. Will use computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform assignments. Applies principles and techniques of building electrical engineering to accomplish goals. Applies all appropriate techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out assignments, maintaining a high level of accuracy, particularly in electrical design documentation for areas of conflict with all other disciplines. Reviews and complies with l! ocal, state, and federal codes pertaining to Life Safety, Buil! ding, and Electrical regulations and ordinances; and as aware, will convey applicable changes of local, state, and federal regulations and ordinances to Teammates. Writes/edits electrical specifications, selects equipment, electrical building power and lighting systems and devices. Will participate in Construction Administration by processing shop drawings, responding to RFI's, and assisting in performing site visits during the construction phase to ensure projects are adhering to specifications and design layout. Coordinates and assists, with affected disciplines, with any addendum, requests for information, change proposal requests and change orders and is responsible to incorporate agreed upon changes into the project documents. Also, the Engineer will assist with Marketing/Business Development activities including, but not limited to, client interviews, and other duties as assigned. Travel for Marketing/Business Development and project-related activities will be require! d. Must be knowledgeable in fire alarm and mass notification system design and the following low voltage systems: telecommunication cabling, CATV, access control, CCTV, intrusion detection etc. Completes work assignments with a high degree of quality, yet with regard to time and budget constraints. Performs other duties as assigned or instructed. Qualifications ⢠BS degree in electrical engineering from an accredited engineering program or a Master Degree from an accredited Architectural Engineering program with an electrical emphasis.
- Professional Engineering certification (PE) required.
- Licensed Professional Electrical Engineer with minimum of 5 yearsâ experience since registration within the A/E industry.
- LEED registration a plus.
- Strong knowledge of codes and related electrical design industry standards.
- Knowledge of Energy codes, ASHRAE standards and LEED requirements.
- Ability to plan, organize, and lead tec! hnical projects and teams.
- Demonstrates the ability to effecti! vely communicate both verbally and in writing with clients, peers and contractors, as well as participates in RFQ shortlist interviews.
- Works well independently and as a team member.
- Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the building engineering design field.
- Ability to persuasively and visually communicate ideas.
- Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with project personnel both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a Team.
- Ability to work collaboratively with individuals throughout the organization, exhibiting a strong team-oriented approach, as well as excellent organization and time management skills.
- Knowledge and proficiency of AutoCAD (REVIT experience is a plus).
- Knowledge and proficiency in the use of lighting simulation analysis software, such as Visual or AGi32.
- Knowledge and proficiency in the use of power! system simulation and generator analysis software, such as SKM PowerTools.
- Knowledge and proficiency in the use of building energy code analysis software, such as COMcheck.
- Knowledge of MS Office (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) is required.
- Knowledge of other BIM software (i.e., Navisworks, Ecotect, eSpecs, QTO, etc.) is a plus.
- Experience with other A/E/C firms is a plus.
- Healthcare experience preferred.
- Ability to select and layout light fixtures, both interior and exterior, for multiple building types.
- Ability to layout electrical receptacles and coordinate power requirements for mechanical equipment, kitchen equipment, medical or owner-furnished equipment, etc.
- Ability to create power one-line diagrams which include normal and emergency power, size power conductors, perform load calculations, and size switchgear and switchboards.
- Ability to design low-voltage systems which inc! lude, but are not limited to, voice and data, nurse call, public addres! s, fire alarm, and intercom.
