Eagle currently has a very unique and exciting opportunity for an experienced Medical Technician/Assistant to support Offutt AFB, Omaha, NE.
Government Contract: Current contract ends 9/2013 w/a second option yr.
PT for the first two weeks then converts to FT
Desirable Experience (SHOW ON RESUME):
- Research experience would be desirable.
- AA or Bachelors of Science or Health Related sciences desirable.
- Certification as a Medical Technician desirable.
Job Description/Requirements:
- The Medical Technician/Medical Assistant will serves as part of a nursing team performing patient care and assessments IAW established policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines.
- Experience inducting health education in groups! .
- Perform portions of medical treatment, diagnostic, ! and therapeutic procedures IAW established procedures and protocols.
- Record treatment and procedures rendered, and observe effects;
- Establish and maintain good interpersonal relationships with co-workers, families, peers and other team members.
- Adhere to infection control procedures including use of personal protective equipment, disposal of waste and aseptic technique;
- Perform central sterile supply duties.
- Ensure all equipment is properly cleaned and stored at the end of each work shift.
- Ensure preventive maintenance and routine cleaning are performed as directed.
- Perform basic life support and triage in emergency situations;
- Maintain patient medical records; prepare and submit administrative reports.
- Participate in in-service training and continuing education programs for new procedures, techniques and equipment.
- Provide training related to diabetic care (especially foot assessment ! and care) to staff from other DoD clinics and facilities.
- Provide clinical support to professional staff at assigned MTF;
- Provide initial assessment to include vital signs, foot exam, and retinal picture, assist patient in completing risk assessments, clinical & medication history, and assist provider as needed.
- Requires good patient communication skills and competent computer skills to include Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint, at a minimum.
- Have and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- At least three (3) yearsâ experience as a medical technician.
