Job Summary/Essential Duties:
Responds to patient calls, anticipates patient needs, and assures patient safety and comfort through regular rounds, environmental maintenance and other appropriate safety measures.
Records vital signs and intake and output when requested into the patient record and/or computer. Reports any changes observed in the condition or behavior of patients and an! y unusual incidents/problems.
Performs nursing proced! ures which do not require the skill/knowledge or judgement of a licensed professional and which may be safely delegated in accordance with nursing policies and procedures.
Prepares and assists patients with meals. Feeds patients as directed. Distributes nourishments and drinking water.
Assures patient privacy while providing personal and routine care.
Establishes and maintains professional interpersonal relationships with patients, visitors, and other hospital personnel while assuring confidentiality of patient information.
Offers to assist co-workers and all team members to complete work assignments.
Participates in patient care conferences and contributes to planning patient care.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education &/or Licensure
Required:
Must be at least 16 years of age.
Must have successfully completed the 75-hour state approved course for Nursing Assistant if h! ired into the Nursing Assistant position after April 30, 1998.
Nurse Assistants must be on the Nurse Aide Registry of the State in which they work if hired into the Nursing Assistant position after April 30, 1998.
BLS or BLS instructor certification is required upon hire. Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include the following: American Red Cross: CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, American Safety and Health Institute: CPR, PRO, must say âProfessional Level-with AEDâ, and American Heart Association: Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.
Experience

Preferred:
Six months experience in an acute care hospital or skilled care facility in the acute care area.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Ability to organize and prioritize work. Job requires individual and group interaction. Job requires continuous verbal communication skills, frequent reading skills, written communication skil! ls, and computer skills.
