The Registered Respiratory Care Practitioner work! ing in the Diagnostics Laboratory provides high quality pulmonary diagnostic and neurodiagnostic testing by being an integral part of the healthcare team in the acute care and outpatient setting. Performs medical staff approved and ordered procedures and modalities in accordance with organizational policy and procedure. Using evidence-based medicine, the Registered Respiratory Care Practitioner maintains a level of competency, knowledge of current practice and techniques that produce positive outcomes. This position reports to the Diagnostics/Respiratory Care Clinical Coordinator.

Position is to be scheduled 16 hours in a two week pay period, 8 hour weekday shifts.

Essential Duties:
Clinical Care

. Provides high quality pulmonary diagnostic and neurodiagnostic testing and related respiratory care interventions to all age groups as outlined by current licensure scope of practice.

Competency.

Pursues self-professional gr! owth by attending and/or performing continuing education in or! der to maintain standards and improve patient care skills. Maintains all testing competencies as outlined below.

Communicator

. Promotes professionalism by demonstration of leadership through communication, effective working relationships and fostering mutual respect within the health care team. Provides effective communication during patient handoffs with other care providers.

Patient Care Assignments

. Rotates to both pulmonary and neurodiagnostic labs and is capable of performing all modes of testing and respiratory related therapeutic interventions.

Leadership and Professionalism

. Serves as a resource person to management, physicians, nursing and staff. Assists in policy and protocol development. Follows the Core Values and Service Excellence Standards as established by the organization.

Qualifications

Education:
Must be a graduate of an AMA approved school for Respiratory Care.

Experience:
Requires technical knowledge and skills to assess and provide Respiratory Care therapeutic interventions. Must possess a broad and diverse knowledge of all cardiopulmonary techniques utilized.

Two to three years of clinical practice preferred.

Must possess skills to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, family members and other staff members.

License/Certification:
Must possess ! a valid license for the practice of Respiratory Care from the state of ! Nebraska.

RRT Credential by the NBRC required.

CPFT or RPFT by the NBRC preferred.

Must possess BLS Certification.
