The current full time opening is working 40 hours per fourteen day pay period. This position will coordinate the activities associated with cancer research, investigational drug, and clinical prevention studies conducted at the Cancer Institute at Saint Elizabeth Regional Medical Center. Assists with timely patient data management and protocol coordination through the physicians involved in trials. Actively participates in audits conducted by trial sponsors. Promotes research to medical staff and screens all potential RTOG study patients. Coordinates the registry activity at Saint Elizabeth.

This position reports to the Director of the Cancer Institute

Essential Job Functions:
1. Works closely with the Radiation Oncologist to determine RTOG (Radiation Therapy Oncology Group) studies to open based on potential for accrual.

2. Submits each protocol to Institutional Review Board (IRB) as well as any amendments that require IRB approval. Completes Cancer Institute and Radiation Oncology staff notification of status.

3. Screens all patients’ potential eligibility for RTOG clinical trials. Confirms eligibility requirements of patients prior to entry on protocol. Maintains screening log; prepares reports for cancer committee and NCCCP.

4. Screens all patients for inclusion in Registries Saint Elizabeth currently has open. Ensures they are enrolled correctly if they desire to participate

5. Ensures accurate and timely data collection, data management and complete case report forms.

6. Maintains clinical study records and study timelines, conducts necessary literature reviews, gathers data, prepares reports, submits materials and needed corrections to investigating body and maintains clinical study financial records and reports.

7. Ensures that all tests are ordered in the time designated by the protocol. Applies to all phases of the protocol. Tissues and blood samples are mailed with accuracy and in a timely fashion.

8. Ensures patient questions and concerns are answered prior to obtaining consent. Explains in detail protocol requirements to the patient.

Qualifications

Qualifications

Education:
RN or Research Assistant with a specialization in oncology research preferred.

Licensure/Certification:
1. Licensure as RN in the State of Nebraska.

2. Certification in Clinical Research is recommended.

Experience/Pre-Requisites:
1. Research Nurse/Assistant in oncology research recommended.

2. Interpersonal and problem solving skills necessary to interact with physicians and co-workers.

3. Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and handle multiple projects simultaneously
